Mary Dubler's Teaching

Sarah Jane Kiper, Missionary to Japan 1950-1955. My Aunt Jane went to occupied Japan as a missionary right after World War II, taking the love of Christ to a defeated people.  I didn’t really know much about her experiences there, as she died when I was 15.  However, my interest in her life in Japan was renewed a few years ago, and I found her story to be very intriguing.  I hope you’ll enjoy it as well.

Hiroshi Suzuki, Pastor in Japan 1958 to present. The most riveting story I found in my Aunt Sarah Jane Kiper’s papers was the one about the first person she led to the Lord in Japan.  His name is Hiroshi Suzuki, and he became a pastor, working over 40 years in churches across central Japan.   The story of his salvation is told here, as well as how I was able to re-establish contact with him and his family.

Darlene Deibler Rose, Missionary to the Netherlands East Indies, Part I. First called by the Lord at the age of 10, Darlene found herself in what is now western Indonesia by the age of 21, the youngest missionary to serve in that area. Here is a summary of her early years until the time of the Japanese invasion in early 1942.

Darlene Deibler Rose, Missionary, Part II. God demonstrates His faithfulness to Darlene in a Japanese POW camp. Read here a summary of the remarkable stories of her prison experience during WWII.

Noah Webster: Educator and Lexicographer. Noah Webster believed for a country to be strong her people must understand her heritage and also have consistency in language—spelling, definitions and usage—and this spurred him to write his American Dictionary.

Hudson Taylor, Founder of China Inland Mission. A man who believed that “God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supplies.”

D.L. Moody, The Chicago fire ignites the fire of the Holy Spirit in his heart, changing his approach to evangelism.

Lilias Trotter Part 1—The Passion; This talented artist is faced with the question of which passion she will follow—art or ministry?

Lilias Trotter Part 2—Algeria; Lilias takes the light of the Gospel into North Africa.

Gladys Aylward, Part One--Marching Orders: A look at how God took Gladys from parlor maid in London to missionary in China.

Gladys Aylward, Part Two--Ministry in China: In a few short years Gladys became fluent in Chinese and was able to show Jesus’ love to everyone from the highest offical to the poorest child.

Jesus’ interactions with seven women in scripture reveals some eternal truths: Jesus Loves, Jesus Forgives, Jesus Teaches, Jesus Guides, Jesus Heals, and Jesus Tests.

“How can I really know the voice of the Lord?” This question comes up frequently, especially when big decisions need to be made or when there is trouble. An inner debate arises as to whether the voice being heard is God’s or our own. Jesus said that we would know His voice (John Chapter 10), so how can we learn to hear His voice? Much can be learned from an unlikely source: Mary Magdalene.

Let the Peace of Christ Rule in Your Heart. You can have peace in the midst of a storm! The world defines peace as freedom from war or hostilities, freedom from strife or dissension, or freedom from mental disturbance. In the world’s view, only if there is no turmoil can there be peace. The Christian, however, can have peace in the midst of turmoil.

Stand by Your Man: A Study of Zipporah, Sarah, and the Proverbs 31 Woman: “It takes two to tango,” as they say; both the husband and the wife must respond as God wants for the marriage to be strong and the team to be effective. But we are concerned today with our responses, how we are to behave toward our man. Our responsibility is for our own responses and attitudes; when we go before God He will look at our heart and actions toward our husbands, not how they may have messed up against us. I want to illustrate how we as wives should respond to our husbands and stand by our men by briefly examining three women: Zipporah who was Moses’ first wife, Sarah the wife of Abraham, and the Proverbs 31 woman.

Esther: The Making of a Wise Appeal. When we need to make an appeal to someone in authority over us, we must be well prepared, have the right motives, and clearly state our request. In addition, we need to leave the results of our appeal to God. Esther’s appeal to her husband is one of the best examples we have for making a wise appeal to one in authority.

You Shall Remove the Leaven from Your Houses. Leaven is an influence that can permeate whatever it touches, be it for good or for bad. In the New Testament leaven is referred to sin or corrupt doctrine, and we are instructed to beware of leaven and to clean it out. At Passover time the women were told to remove leaven from their homes, and we have that responsibility today. Crude or violent television programs, advertisements, computer games, movies, books, and other things can influence us in a negative way and are thus “leaven” in our homes. The Lord can show you what these things are so that you can remove them.

The Fruit of the Holy Spirit: Self Control and the Taming of Our Tongue.  One of the fruit of the Spirit is self-control, and yet it seems so difficult to attain, especially when it comes to controlling our tongue. Jesus is the perfect example of how to control the tongue; He listened for His Father’s direction as to what to speak. We can tame our tongue by teaching our mouth, pondering how to answer, and through prayer.

We are to be a House of Prayer. Jesus declared that His temple was to be a house of prayer and not a house of business. When we ask Jesus to be Lord of our life we become a temple of God with the Spirit of God dwelling in us. So we are to be a house of prayer. We can do this by rejoicing always, not giving in to anxiety, believing, giving thanks, praying always, having the right attitude, and eagerly watching for the answers.

A Bible Study on Prayer. In this Bible study you will increase your understanding of Who calls us to prayer, the role of the Holy Spirit in prayer, and why we pray. In addition, you will examine how we pray and the ways God answers prayer. My hope is that this study will help you be more bold in your prayers and more confident in our Father God.
